The Guild or Society of Fishmongers of London is known to have been in existence long preceding any extant Charter. The following Charters are known to have been granted:-

Edward I

Began to reign 1272. Charter. Date not known.

Edward II

Began to reign 1307. Charter. Date not known.

Edward III

 Began to reign 1327.Charter. Date not known.

37 Edward III

Dated 10 July, 1364. Patent in French. Copy in Company's Ordinance Book. First extanti Charter, confirming the grants immemorially made to the Company by his progenitors.

38 Edward III

12 July, 1365. In the Tower, confirming previous Charter and granting further privileges.

38 Edward III

24 July, 1365. In Company's Ordinance Book empowering the Company to elect four persons o oversee the buying and selling of Fish in the City.

22 Richard II

9 May, 1399. Not extant, but set out in Charter of confirmation of 6 Henry VI, giving powers for the regulation of the trade and License to elect six Wardens.

4 Henry V

 1415-16. In Mandate to Mayor. Confirms Charters of Edward I, Edward II, Edward III, and Richard II.

6 Henry VI

 10 July, 1427 Inspeximus of 22 Richard II.

11 Henry VI

 8 February, 1433. Granting that the Mistery of Fishmongers should be one body perpetual with a Common Seal, and be able, in the law, to purchase in free in perpetuity lands, &c., and to hold them in mortmain.

23 Henry VII

 3 July, 1508. Confirmation of Letters Patent of 11 Henry VI - 1433.

24 Henry VII

 20 September, 1508. Incorporating the Mistery of Stock Fishmongers, and granting Common Seal.

29 Henry VIII

1537. Uniting the two Corporations of the Salt Fishmongers and Stock Fishmongers - (vide Herbert's History of the Twelve Companies).

1 Edward VI

 2 July, 1547. Inspeximus of 24 Henry VII.

4 Edward VI

 4 July, 1551. Letters Patent, repurchase of Rents which had been seized for superstitious uses.

1 Mary

18 May, 1554. Confirmation of Charters of Henry VI, Henry VII, and Edward VI.

1 Elizabeth

6 October, 1559. Inspeximus of 1 Mary.

11 Elizabeth

2O November, 1569. Confirmation of Charters of Richard II and Henry VI.

2 James I

30 August, 1604. Charter re-incorporating the Company and confirming previous Charters, and giving power to search for and seize unwholesome Fish.

5 James I

1607. Act of Parliament confirming the Company in the holding of all its lands and tenements under any previous Charters, Wills or Deeds.

36 Charles II

14 January, 1685. Surrender of Charters. The Company was incorporated de novo, but by succeeding Act of Parliament this surrender was declared void.

3 Wm. and Mary

 1690. Act restoring and confirming the annulled (Cap.8,sec.14) Charters.

55 George III

4 November, 1815. Inspeximus of 2 James I.

1 George VI

 1937. Supplemental Charter, authorising the Company to hold all its property in mortmain.
